Here's something most numerology content doesn't tell you. Your Mulank and Bhagyank don't change — those are fixed by your birth date. But the numbers that feel most resonant, most alive, most personally lucky at any given point in your life? Those shift. And in Vedic astrology, the mechanism that drives this shift is the Vimshottari Dasha system.

Dasha means "period" or "rule." The Vimshottari Dasha is a 120-year cycle divided among the nine Navagraha, with each planet ruling for a specific span of years. The starting point is determined by the Nakshatra the Moon occupied at your birth. From that starting Nakshatra, your personal sequence of planetary periods is established — and it runs in the same fixed order for everyone, just starting at different points depending on where the Moon was when you arrived.

The sequence, with each planet's full period length: Ketu (7 years), Venus (20 years), Sun (6 years), Moon (10 years), Mars (7 years), Rahu (18 years), Jupiter (16 years), Saturn (19 years), Mercury (17 years). Total: 120 years. Most people live through three to five complete Mahadashas in their lifetime.

How Each Dasha Shifts Your Number Resonance

During your Jupiter Mahadasha (16 years), the energy of number 3 becomes unusually available to you. Thursdays feel productive. Decisions made on the 12th or 21st of a month seem to go well. The colour yellow appears around you. This isn't magic — it's the sustained influence of Jupiter's frequency permeating your experience for a 16-year stretch.

Then Jupiter's period ends and Saturn's begins (19 years). Suddenly the productive ease of Jupiter's number gives way to something heavier and more demanding. Number 8 becomes the dominant frequency. Saturdays matter more. The pace of life slows. Rewards start coming only after longer effort. The numbers that felt lucky two years ago now feel slightly misaligned — because they are. The practical application is straightforward. During a Mercury Antardasha, number 5 becomes unusually resonant — Wednesday meetings go well, decisions on the 14th or 23rd often land well, Mercury's domains (communication, trade, writing, learning) are the areas most likely to produce results.

You're not abandoning your birth numbers. You're layering Dasha awareness on top of them. Your Mulank remains the baseline — the instrument you were given. The Dasha is the key the music is being played in right now. When the key changes, some notes that were in harmony become dissonant, and others that felt slightly off suddenly fit perfectly.

A Practical Example Across Two Decades

Consider someone with Mulank 3 (Jupiter) and Bhagyank 5 (Mercury). Their natural resonances are 3, 12, 21, 30, and 5, 14, 23. For most of their life, these numbers feel right.

But say they're in a Saturn Mahadasha from age 35 to 54.
